Forward Advantage is supporting its communities through outreach efforts in Fresno, greater-Boston, and Kenya. It’s estimated that 22 percent of Fresno’s population is living below the poverty line. The community is also afflicted with low education levels and the highest rate of childhood obesity in the nation. At least 10 percent of the population in Massachusetts is living below the poverty line, a situation which is largely to blame on the economy and a high cost of living. Though these local situations are alarming, no one understands poverty and hunger quite like the Kenyans. East Africa, including Northern Kenya, is suffering from the worst drought experienced in decades, and its people need all the help they can get.
